The Refuge will be selling more than fifty calves and five adult longhorns at the Stockman-Oklahoma livestock market in Apache.  The calves will sell on Thursday May 3rd at 9am and the adults on Friday, May 4th.

According to Walter Munsterman of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service "The calves being sold were too young for the 2011 Wichita Mountains Longhorn Auction.  All the calves have been vaccinated for blackleg disease."

He went on to say that "All longhorns being sold are registered with or subject for registration with the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America (TLBAA), International Texas Longhorn Association (ITLA), and the Cattleman's Texas Longhorn Registry (CTLR)."

For more information about the longhorn cattle on the refuge visit the Southwest Region website.

If you are interested in owning one of these animals stop by the auction in Apache on Thursday, May 3rd or Friday, May 4th.  Apache is located about 25 miles north of Lawton, on Highway 62-281
