Day 2 of WE Fest 2016 kicked off with a traditional country set from newcomer William Michael Morgan. The newcomer took the stage in tight black jeans, a pink button down and a large brown cowboy hat, asking the crowd, "We got any real country fans out here?"

"Aww, good. I'm not the only one," he said after getting their response.

Morgan played music from his six-song EP, but also included some music that was influential in his upbringing, including Mark Chesnutt "It's a Little Too Late" — one of his favorites. That got the mid-day crowd pumped up before he played Merle Haggard's "Ramblin' Fever," but it was when Morgan slowed things down without his band that the audience truly engaged his traditional style.

After playing Keith Whitley's "Don't Close Your Eyes" with just his acoustic guitar, the entire audience — even those on the GA lawn — stood and cheered. "He is killing this song!" one fan was overheard saying. Morgan introduced his next cover admitting, "You'll know what's wrong with me after this song." He was referring to "Keep Your Hands to Yourself." The Mississippi native finished his set with "I Met a Girl," his current No. 18 hit.

"Thank you so much for believing in country music. It's still here. We're still here."
