It did not take long at all for the Lawton Wolverines to take control of the Enid Plainsmen Thursday night at Cameron Stadium. Tre Curry took the ball 59 yards for a touchdown on Lawton’s second play from scrimmage and he and the Wolverines never looked back in a dominating 60-26 win over Enid Thursday night at Cameron Field. The loss dropped Enid to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in district. Lawton improved to 3-1 and 2-0.

Curry conquered the Plainsmen defense, finishing with 234 yards rushing and three touchdowns as part of a Lawton offense that rushed for 460 yards on the night, outgaining Enid 577-387 overall.

The Wolverines took a 36-0 lead to halftime, thanks to touch down runs of 6 and 2 yards by Curry, a 43-yard run from DeQuan Weaver, a 22 Marcheenan Hair touchdown catch and a 65 yard pick-six return by Stephen Stiles. The Plainsmen couldn't seem to mount anything in the first half, until the final play of the first half. Caitlyn Cox missed a 45-yard field goal try, with Enid fielding the ball in the end zone, returning it 107 for an apparent score. After the referees discussed the play, it was ruled a touchback and the Wolverines went to the locker room with a 36 point lead.

Enid got on the board after recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half. Devin Pratt later scored on a three-yard run. Pratt finished with a season-high 153 yards rushing on 37 carries and Enid’s Squire Logan topped all receivers with 147 yards and two touchdowns.

With the game out of reach, the two teams traded scores in the second-half, with the Plainsmen adding a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Darian Goins to Squire Logan of 12 yards and 32 yards and Marlo Hughes capping Enid’s scoring on a 1-yard run with 15 seconds left. But Enid’s defense could not keep Lawton out of the end zone, repeatedly giving up big plays, including a second 59-yard touchdown run from Curry, a 26-yard run from Marcheenan Hair, and 25-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Jayden Garcia to Miles Davis. Caitlyn Cox added a 42 yard field goal in the second half for Lawton, which soundly defeated Enid for the second straight year.

Besides the 234 yards and three scores on the ground for Curry, Weaver finished with 110 yards rushing and 2 td's. Goins finished 16 of 28 with one interception and two touchdowns for 148 yards. Lawton only had 117 yards passing, but with the dominance it showed on the ground, the passing game wasn't called upon much.
