You will see Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman back onscreen in just a couple months, as one of the key members of Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s Justice League. But how long will we have to wait for a sequel? Obviously Wonder Woman 2 will happen. It’s just a matter of when.

In a profile of Warner Bros. executive Toby Emmerich, Variety confirms that the Wonder Woman sequel is in development at the studio. And Emmerich also confirmed that Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins (who as of two weeks ago supposedly wasn’t signed for 2 Wonder 2 Woman) is working on the project.

Emmerich had very little else to say about Wonder Woman 2 other than conceding that the movie will take place “somewhere between 1917 and 2017,” and probably in the interim between the first movie and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In a separate Variety article, DC Comics’ Geoff Johns says he and Jenkins “are writing the treatment right now.” Their goal, he says is “to make another great Wonder Woman film.” A bold strategy!

And in a final bit of Wonder Woman-related housekeeping, a tweet has been going around claiming that Gadot made 46 times less money for her film than Henry Cavill did for Man of Steel. That makes for a clicky viral story, but, as Vanity Fair points out, it’s very misleading. Most comic book movie stars make less at the start of their franchises, with low base salaries. Later, after their movies generate profits (and they start to get points on their grosses) and they negotiate bigger deals for the sequels, their financial fortunes greatly improve. Robert Downey Jr. made less than $1 million for the first Iron Man and now makes tens of millions for each Marvel sequel. If Gadot’s still making $300,000 for Wonder Woman 6 then something’s wrong.
