This is a special year, as Woody was born 100 years ago, making the centennial WoodyFest 2012 a can’t-miss event.

The festival will take place July 11-15 in Okemah, Oklahoma, which is just a couple hours from Lawton and just about an hour away from the metro OKC area.

Perhaps Guthrie’s most famous song is “This Land Is Your Land,” but the folk musician left a musical legacy that boasts hundreds of other ballads, children’s songs, and the like.

WoodyFest 2012 will be a summertime treat with its lineup of favorite singers, musicians, and songwriters. Singer-songwriter Judy Collins and Woody’s son Arlo Guthrie are this year’s headliners. Other guests include fan favorites Jimmy LaFave, the Red Dirt Rangers, Terri Hendrix, Butch Hancock, Monica Taylor, Billy Bragg, and many more.

You also don’t want to miss Samantha Crain and Jesse Aycock, up-and-comers in the folk rock world.
