Members of the Zac Brown Band are keeping their place atop the country singles chart once again this week with their latest No. 1 hit, ‘Keep Me in Mind.’

Like their previous eight singles — ‘Chicken Fried,’ ‘Whatever It Is,’ ‘Toes,’ ‘Highway 20 Ride,’ ‘Free,’ ‘As She’s Walking Away,’ ‘Colder Weather’ and ‘Knee Deep’ — their latest hit blazed up the singles chart in a matter of weeks, proving the band to be a staple in the country music industry.

‘Keep Me in Mind’ was penned by Brown — along with his righthand man, Wyatt Durrette (who is a co-writer with Brown on all singles with an exception of ‘Free’) — and Nic Cowan, who is an artist signed to Brown’s Southern Ground record label.

The tune was based around Durrette meeting his now girlfriend several years ago, who at the time was in a relationship with someone else. The two kept in touch over the years, and Durrette began to pen the sweet love song, which asks his love interest to “keep me in mind” down the road if she should find herself single. When that happened, she and Durrette struck up a relationship that is still going strong.

The Zac Brown Band are currently in the studio working on material for the release of their next studio album, slated for release some time in 2012.
