Ahead of the March 18 release of Dave Cobb highly anticipated Southern Family concept album, fans can hear Zac Brown's contribution to the project, "Grandma's Garden."

The Zac Brown Band leader pays tribute to his family matriarch in the new track, leaving his band behind and opting instead for a string arrangement to back the ballad.

"Grandma had a garden in the backyard / She always had a way with things that grow / She'd be out there early in the springtime / Just as soon as she was sure it wouldn't snow," Brown sings. "She'd say, 'I love to watch the seeds I've planted / Grow up into what they oughta be' / Oh, I thought she was talking about tomatoes / But she was talking about her family."

In addition to Brown, Southern Family also features contributions from Miranda Lambert ("Sweet By and By"), Anderson East ("Learning") and Chris and Morgane Stapleton ("You Are My Sunshine"), among many others. Jason Isbell, Jamey Johnson, Holly Williams, Brent Cobb, Brandy Clark, Shooter Jennings and Rich Robinson also contributed.

“Somebody said, ‘You should make a concept record,’ and I kind of giggled about it for a second. But, then I thought, man, wouldn’t it be amazing to have all my friends on one record and really find a common thread?" Cobb says. "Southern Family, about their mothers, grandparents, kids, siblings -- these detailed stories about how they grew up and their families and the things that make them who they are.

"This really encapsulates Nashville right now. There’s something to it. There’s something in the air," Cobb adds. "There’s a lot of great things about Nashville. There’s something here that doesn’t exist anywhere else in my lifetime. I’m sure this happened in London in the ‘60s and California in the ‘70s and maybe New York in the late ’50s or early ‘60s. But I think, right now, Nashville is the home of music.”

Southern Family is available for pre-order via Amazon and iTunes.
