Clicking through Oklahoma's usual digital haunts, I ran across an unbelievable tale. There is, apparently, a restaurant in Central Oklahoma that hasn't changed their prices since 2010... or the early 20-teens.

Naturally, if you see or hear something like that, you'd be totally within range of a normal reaction being a little apprehensive to trust something like that, but there are receipts to back up the claim.

Photos, not actual receipts. Who keeps their fast food receipts?

Why it harkens the highest call of shenanigans.

You already know this, but let's give it a rundown.

Grocery prices have been the biggest bummer for the average American family. Eggs fetching a premium, steak out of reach for working Americans, and half the country has watched it happen in horror over the last two years.

It has gotten so bad, America has been practically united by food prices since the other half has started complaining about grocery prices for two weeks now.

So imagine finding an eatery that hasn't let politics, the pandemic, a recession, historic inflation, bird flu, turtle flu, or the supply change affect prices...

Welcome to Chinese Express in Edmond, Oklahoma.

On the outside, it looks like your typical modern Oklahoma Chinese food eatery. Well, I guess. The fancy brick and metal roof is likely an Edmond thing. In my hometown, the local Chinese restaurant exists in what was once an Arby's built in the 1960s.

A member over at OklahomaShooters was in his old stomping grounds having lunch with his brother. Hitting up one of the old haunts, they were taken aback by the pricing... which is a very common reaction to food prices these days.

You read the words "Prices haven't changed since the 2010s," but then you look around the picture of the menu. It's unbelievable.

As you can see, while a few menu items have been dropped over the years, the prices have seemingly remained the same.

It seems like a too-good-to-be-true type of thing in a period of American evolution when a 99¢ Jr Bacon Cheeseburger costs a ridiculous $3.19, so what's the catch?

Google Reviews.

If you're the type that Google's everything, maybe you've already looked. Like most restaurants in America, the reviews of those who have sampled the goods have made their opinions heard.

Those who love it love it. Those who don't really don't... but it all calls back to a different time. Sometimes the meal is more than taste, it's a feeling of nostalgia.

I know when I'm back in my hometown, I love the greasy, salty burgers from the literal shack across from the old police station. Is it a great burger? No... but every bite is a memory of eating there with dad on Saturday afternoons.

If you're ever in Edmond craving described "decent Chinese food" but "great egg rolls and lo mein," save a few bucks and give it a try.

Ten Iconic Oklahoma Restaurants You Have To Try

I think it's fair to say that each state probably has its own legends when it comes to restaurants. Pennsylvania has cheesesteaks, New York has wings and pizza, Texas has Franklin BBQ and Tex-Mex, etc...

Oklahoma is no different.

Birthed into statehood as a cattle state, there's no shortage of beef on any menu here, but there's a little room for chicken and fries too. Here are the absolute, hands down, best restaurants, in no particular order, everyone has to try in The Sooner State.
