Biggest Snow Storms in Oklahoma History
There's no denying it. Oklahoma is known the world over for two things. The Alfred P. Murrah Building Bombing - which was a big buzzkill when the taxi driver in Honolulu brought that up - and our incredibly wild weather.
While the Sooner State is more known for growing the largest tornadoes on Earth, our crazy winters are nothing to shake a stick at.
Also, why were people always shaking sticks at stuff in our grandparents' time coming of age? I've heard it a million times and still can't wrap my head around it.

What comes to mind if you think about Oklahoma's biggest snows?
I instantly think of 2021 when 16 inches fell in my SWOK backyard. It was incredible and probably the one time our local meteorologists got the forecast correct.
There have been some incredible snows for the Sooner State in history. Cumulatively, the biggest winters on record have produced up to 56 inches of snow in one season, but that's adding up all the snow that fell that year.
There was a storm in 1909 that produced 15-foot-deep snow drifts... but the snow didn't fall in Oklahoma. It actually fell in Texas and blew into Oklahoma. Dalhart, Texas experienced drifts upwards of 30 feet-deep in that same storm.
All in all, across the history of Oklahoma, here are the snow records for single storms.
