New Foods to the 2024 Oklahoma State Fair

While it's generally too hot to even think about gorging yourself on deep-fried everything at the state fair, 2024 looks like the weather is going to be really pleasant. Not too hot, but not cold either.

When it comes to fair food, most years follow a theme. Bacon this, chocolate-covered that, etc... Last year, the theme was everything pickles. This year is a little more diversified, with unique tastes from all of the major flavors.

The biggest thing people are talking about is the bacon-wrapped Oreo's. It has the potential to be the most epic sweet and savory bite, but it's also so unique, nobody knows what to make of it.

Sweet treats are also on deck, like the grasshopper ice cream bar.

And with a spicy update to one of last year's most polarizing items, the spicy pickle pizza.

What more could you ask for?

While those fair foods sound interesting and quite possibly delicious, they aren't the only new foods showing up for the Oklahoma State Fair. There are plenty more, but I can't show you.

For some weird reason or another, fair vendors don't make it a habit of snapping pics of their own food. Whether they haven't had Marketing 101 yet or it's just an afterthought, people eat with their eyes. If they really wanted to make a splash, they'd post up for us all to leer at.

Where Familiar Oklahoma Sayings Came From

We've all heard these super-common sayings growing up in Oklahoma. They're so common, they're not just Sooner State phrases, but this is where we heard them so often as youths. It's almost funny to learn some of the more seedy origins of phrases our ultra-conservative grandparents used to say. They'd likely turn over in their graves learning some of these meanings.
