As the fair season kicks off across Oklahoma with the promise of cooler weather, this is one community celebration you might want to take in.

It's the 102nd Annual Old Settlers Celebration - commemorating the opening of the Cherokee Strip - hosted by the Twister Museum in Wakita, Oklahoma.

Not only is the museum getting all of their Twister stuff together - replica chase vehicles, Dorothy, souvenirs, etc... - the town of Wakita will have something for everyone in a jam-packed schedule from 8 AM through the night hours.

Everything from a very small-town pancake breakfast for all to a car show, kids activities, games, live music, and more.

If you've ever wanted to experience small-town Oklahoma, there's no smaller town to do that in. Rumored to have been built just for a movie, the details are a little misleading, but Wakita is and always has been a tiny town in Northern Oklahoma.

Population 307

It all happens on Saturday, September 14th in Wakita. Details here.
