The Cutest Baby Animals You Can See Now in Oklahoma
Fall is usually prime time in Oklahoma for bonfires, festivals, movie nights, pumpkin patches and corn mazes - all of the best activiies to do with a special someone. If you're facing the upcoming holiday season without a cuddle partner, Oklahoma has the very next best thing to keep your hearts warm.
It's hard to say no to baby animals, let alone the ones that you can actually hold, pet and cuddle right now. These aren't just animals you find on the farm - granted, fluffy cows and foals are absolutely adorable, too.
But in Oklahoma, there are a variety of ways to interact with all sorts of animals, both domesticated and wild. Did you know that there are only 17 animal species native to Oklahoma? That's including the bison, opposum, and a variety of bats.
But there are many, many more that you can spend some one on one time at the several different zoos and animal encounter areas. Here are some of the cutest baby animals from these places throughout Oklahoma:
Magnolia Blossom Ranch - Newcastle, Oklahoma
This gorgeous black beauty named Jojo joined the Magnolia Blossom Ranch very recently. Jojo and her momma, Scarlett, are just a few of the several fluffy alpacas at the ranch in Newcastle, Oklahoma.
You might actually spot these alpacas in places that, well, most alpacas aren't found like classrooms and studios. The folks who run Magnolia Blossom Ranch want you to know all about the fiber industry and these adorable long-necked mini versions of llamas.
Check out the hands-on farm tour and one of a kind alpaca experience they're hosting at the end of this month called Farm Days.
Snider Family Exotics - Sterling, Oklahoma
Meet the newest member of the capabara family. She's just one of the several adorable baby exotic animals living in Sterling, Oklahoma.
You may not be able to cuddle the capabaras, but you can still get some love from the monkeys, kangaroos, skunks and many more animals you've probably never heard of.
During the fall every year, the Snider Family Exotics hosts a Pumpkin Patch with options for schools and organizations to bring the kids for a unique field trip unlike any other.
Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden
Now this itty bitty new addition to the Oklahoma City Zoo is technically off limits for cuddling, but visitors are welcome to come and see the meerkats and more in the new expansion at the zoo. When we asked about this photo, the folks from the zoo gave us the scoop on their newest addition:
"This is the OKC Zoo’s first meerkat pup born on August 11 from our new mob of meerkats at Expedition Africa.
While we don't know yet whether this little pup is a male or female, guests may have an opportunity to see the meerkat pup and the rest of the mob at their indoor habitat space in Expedition Africa near Love's Pachyderm."
-Candice Rennels, Director of Public Relations for Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Gardens
The new addition isn't the only thing the zoo has coming for visitors. This fall, the zoo has a ton of events specifically for the fall lovers - check out the details here.
PAWsitively Wild Encounters & Education Center - Atoka, Oklahoma
Meet the babies above: Bert Fin the Fennec Fox, Flash the sloth, Loretta the Lemur, and Bert the Tortoise. These ladies and gents are part of a big ol' hands on animal experience in southeast Oklahoma. They've hosted up to 200 children and adults all at once, showing off some of the coolest and craziest exotic animals in Oklahoma.
Check out their recent events and see if this is the trip for the family this fall.
