Complete List of Oklahoma’s Dog Friendly Restaurants Along I-44
If you're coming through Oklahoma, either up from Texas or down from Kansas, chances are you'll end up on one of the busiest interstate highways that run through the state: Interstate 44.
Traveling with pets can be a bit of a hassle, especially in areas that don't accomodate for your furbaby. Luckily, though, a lot of people in Oklahoma love animals and they definitely don't mind if you bring your pup (or other critter) in with you to their business.
Can I Take My Pet In With Me Anywhere in Oklahoma?
Technically speaking, any business in Oklahoma must welcome Service Animals, trained to perform a specific task for their handler. Keep in mind these are different from Emotional Support Animals (ESA), which do not have to be trained.
Play close attention to the business' front doors for the signs telling you that "service animals only, pets not allowed." Since ESAs are not technically considered service animals, they are not allowed in places that explicitly only allow service animals.
For the record, businesses may not be able to ask you for proof of paperwork for a service animal, but they can ask you what your animal is trained to do for you. If your animal is causing issues around you, or it is not trained to perform a task, you can be asked to leave.
How Do I Know If They're Pet Friendly?
The best way to find out is to call and speak with staff directly. Most places with updated social media usually include if they are pet friendly or not on their website, but not always.
One reddit user made a great point about changes since the pandemic that may have worked out in the long run for pet owners in Oklahoma.
