
Oklahoma’s Annual Open Streets Celebration Coming Back This Spring
Every year, Lawton, Oklahoma celebrates playing in the street - literally. Their annual Open Streets event is coming this March and they've already started sharing the news and what to expect for the 10th anniversary.
This Year's Plans For Open Streets in Oklahoma
The Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma recently announced their plans for the Spring 2025 celebration. This year's Spring Open Streets is expected to happen on Saturday, March 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on C Avenue in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Apply To Volunteer, Be A Vendor or Bring A Food Truck
Open Streets is not just a fun day in the downtown streets of Lawton (blocked off from traffic, of course), but it's also a chance to showcase unique businesses and food trucks in the area. They are currently taking applications for vendors, food trucks and volunteers for the event, as well. To apply, click here.
This year, they committee planning Open Streets are expecting to have an art contest, story walk, and an abundance of healthy activities like giant board games and a glow run. They also include bicycle rodeos, lazer tag, fitness demos and more. All of these things are aiming to get Lawton's people out and active for the weekend.
Previous Years' Experiences - What To Expect
In the past, the Spring Open Streets event has been a big deal for southwest Oklahoma. The first year alone, there were over 60 organizations and over 3,500 attendees. Every year, the expectations get higher and higher.
Open Streets happens twice a year, once during the spring and once more in the fall. Last year's fall open streets was full of live music, vendors, fun games and so much more. It's difficult to match the previous year's success, but they make it happen.
