Oklahoma Packing Company Recalls Ready-To-Eat Meat
The packing company from Perkins, Oklahoma, Ralph's Packing Company, has recalled 3,132 pounds of meat due to "misbranding and an undeclared allergen."
Why Are They Recalling?
The recall is due to possibility of milk being in the products, which was not included on the product label. The ready-to-eat pork and beef bologna that they're recalling have been produced since September 2022. The recall was announced on Dec. 20, 2024, but is still listed as a Class I High Risk alert as of Monday, Jan. 13, 2025.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), these items in question were shipped to retail and foodservice locations around Oklahoma and may have been sliced and sold at deli counters across the state.
What Foods Should You Keep A Look Out For?
If you've purchased any of these items, you're urged not to consume them and either throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase:
- 16-oz. (1 LB) or various weight (larger than 16-oz.) vacuum-sealed chubs of “Ralph’s CIRCLE R BRAND GARLIC BOLOGNA” with lot codes 0093, 0654, 0804, 1074, 1153, 1224, 1374, 1774, 1924, 2572, 2974, 3132, and 3483.
- 16-oz. (1 LB) or various weight (larger than 16-oz.) vacuum-sealed chubs of “Ralph’s CIRCLE R BRAND GARLIC BOLOGNA with Jalapenos” with lot codes 0804, 1074, 1224, 1233, 1354, 2184, and 3374.
Ralph's has recognized the mistake and even offered a refund for anyone who finds that they've purchased a recalled item. President of Ralph's Circle R Brand, Erica Crane Hering, released a public statement, saying: "We ask that you gather any implicated product, and bring it back to our store for a full refund if you wish."
They also say that there have been "corrective actions" to prevent an incident like this from occurring again as well as a revision to the label review process.
So far, no adverse reactions have been reported to the USDA regarding these products, but that doesn't mean we're out of the clear yet. FSIS wants to reiterate that these items may be in your freezer, or in the freezer of an establishment that purchased them.
