Take a virtual tour of the abandoned Tulsa Speedway in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was once a thriving and busy track until it closed permanently back in the mid-2000s. I remember going there a few times when I was a kid and it was always a great time. The stands were full, and fans from all over would come to watch the races.

The Tulsa Speedway was originally located at the Tulsa Fairgrounds but moved in 1985 to its current location on North Highway 75. It was a popular place and race fans and drivers from all over the state and country would come to the Tulsa Speedway for some of the best dirt track racing around until it closed back in 2005.

The drone footage in the video above along with the classic vintage video clips from years past, from the looks of it the eighties, makes me miss the old speedway. It's sad that it closed down and is now just an empty space, just a shell of what it once was. I have great memories of going there as a kid and always looked forward to it. I wonder how many drivers got their start there and how many fans were born there.

After the ownership changed repeatedly over the years it fell into disrepair and was ultimately shut down. Luckily for us, the New Tulsa Speedway was opened and is now carrying on the tradition. So while I miss the old Tulsa Speedway and it's sad that it closed and is now abandoned, at least we have the New Tulsa Speedway and the Tulsa Raceway Park.
