Ties, shirts, gift cards, hand drawn pictures. They have all been give to dear old dad. This is the year to give him something out of the ordinary.

Lets face it. There are three things that should grab your attention in this picture. 1) bacon, 2) chocolate, 3) gold.

As millions of families are sitting down to their traditional Thanksgiving feasts of oven baked or fried turkey, green bean casserole, stuffing, and multitudes of desserts. Some families will break with tradition to spice up this age old feast with such delicacies as Velveeta Cheesecake or bacon wrapped turkey and even more outlandish creations. Last week, a U.K. group struck fear in the hearts of bacon lovers everywhere when it predicted an "unavoidable" pork shortage next year. But now experts say there's no real threat of an impending "aporkalypse" here in the U.S. and that the organization's report amounts to nothing more than propaganda. Whew!

So far we've learned that the worst US drought in 50 years will cause meat prices to rise and has even forced some ranchers to feed candy to their cattle. But now comes truly disturbing news from the UK's National Pig Association (who knew there was such a thing?): a worldwide bacon and sausage shortage may also be in the future.

Bacon and eggs. Bacon with pancakes or waffles. Bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Bacon on a burger or in you salad. Lets face it. Bacon is a staple in the food chain of many people.
