This Oklahoma small town has just passed a new ordinance that would ticket the homeless. Any person caught sleeping or sitting on the sidewalk in the downtown area could face a fine.

The Lawton City Hall has installed additional security and screening with an X-Ray Machine. Needless to say it's pissed a lot of people off and they've taken to the City's Facebook page in protest.
Good news! The City of Lawton just announced that Lawton Recreation Centers will reopen today (04-12-21). It's been forever since we've been able to visit the rec-centers due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it's been close to a year now at least. All 3 centers have reopened the H.C. King Center located at1705 NW 20th Street, the Owens Multipurpose Center on 1405 SW 11th Street along with the Patterson Center at 4 NE Arlington Drive.
Last week Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas would be reopening 100% doing away with their mask mandate and other COVID-19 related restrictions. Yesterday (03-11-22) Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt issued an executive order that would remove any restrictions on live events across the state and he repealed the mask mandate for state buildings. Oklahoma never had a statewide mask mandate, instead it was left up to each individual county and city to decide what they wanted to do. Which Includes Lawton, Fort Sill.
