The 2012 Oklahoma Youth Expo came to a close with the Sale of Champions. Literally hundreds of kids from across the state of Oklahoma showed thousands of animals at this year's Expo.
The Comanche County Spring Livestock Show is a community event to say the least. I have been attending the show since I moved to Lawton. It not only showcases some of the best livestock from Cache, Chattanooga, Elgin,Fletcher, Geronimo, Indiahoma, Sterling, and Lawton, but also features some of the most dedicated and hard working young adults from two great clubs; 4H and FFA.
The Comanche County Spring Livestock show is underway at the Comanche County Fairgrounds, 920 S. Sheridan Road. According to Marty New, the Comanche County Extension Director, the first Comanche county Junior Livestock show was held in the late 1930's and in 1959 the Saddle & Sirloin Club was formed to assist with the auction and it's volunteers have been crucial to the show ever since.
