Friday night lights is back in Amarillo!

Prior to Friday night's State 6A-II Championship game in Yukon, the players of the Lawton Wolverines were cheered as they left Lawton.

Well its that time again, and with kids and teachers returning to school next week, that means high school football is just around the corner.

It was not a tale told by an idiot, but much like Shakespeare's Macbeth, Friday night's scheduled game between the Lawton Wolverines and the Sepulpa Chieftains was "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing".

The Lawton Wolverines gave up the first two scores, but battled back and in an outcome reminiscent of the 2014 season opener, downed the Salina Central Mustangs 56-35 at Cameron Stadium Friday night.

After the first few tough weeks of the MacArthur Highlander season, the boys from up on the "Hill" were in need of a pick me up after falling to 2 -2 overall on the season and 0-1 in district play.

While Down syndrome student Brett Bowden rarely got on the field, he was popular member of Hobbton High School’s football team due to his enthusiasm and positive attitude. Everybody expected Bowden to be on the team again for the 2011 season, but, in a controversial decision, the state of North Carolina has ruled him ineligible.
