Not in recent history has there ever been a memorial race at the Lawton Speedway for a driver, the only other memorial race is named for the late track owner, Lanny Edwards...

Funeral services for Lanny Edwards will be today at First Baptist Church, 2pm.  Edwards who passed away on Friday will be remembered by many as the Man in the Red Shirt.

Just a little over a month ago, Tony Stewart raced in front of thousands of fans here at the Lawton Speedway.  Today he is resting at a hospital in Iowa after suffering a couple of broken bones thanks to a crash in the Front Row Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway.

I have it admit it, I am a racing chic!  I love the dirt from the Dirt Track, the roar from the 'Big Boys' of Nascar, and just about everything in between.

Lawton Speedway Owner, Lanny Edwards will be inducted into the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame during the Hall of Fame Gala held in the Speedway Club's Grand Ballroom at the Texas Motor Speedway, Thursday, April 12.  Edwards is no stranger to 'Hall of Fames", with membership in  the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, and National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
