Oak Ridge Boys

In January of 1982, the Oak Ridge Boys released "Bobbie Sue" as the first single from their album of the same name. The song was co-written by Adele Tyler, Dan Tyler and Wood Newton. In April, the tune earned the Oaks their sixth No. 1 single on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart; it also found success on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 (No. 12) and the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart (No. 19). Oak Ridge Boys band member Richard Sterban's mother, Victoria Sterban, passed away on Sept. 1. She was 94 years old.

Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys has been inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.

The 2014 CMA Fest went out with a bang on Sunday (June 9), the last day of the four-day music festival. It was highlighted by performances from several fan-favorite artists who lit up the stage at LP Field in Nashville.

When you think of the Oak Ridge Boys, you think harmony, in 4 parts.  You may think of William Golden and his growing Mountain Man look.  You may think of the deep, deep voice of Richard Sturbin. But you almost always think of the song 'Bobbie Sue'.

Formed in the 40's as a gospel quartet, The Oak Ridge Boys have remained in music, primarily country.  In fact, this year, the Oaks will be celebrating with a 40th Anniversary Tour.
