The Daily Show

The Daily Show has gone on long enough that you’d have a hard time picking any one dream cast to reunite. Nevertheless, Stephen Colbert may have found it, setting joint Late Show appearances for Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Samantha Bee and more.

Revered though it was, Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show never quite reached the heights of its former Daily Show-Colbert pairing. We’ll see if the next attempt does any better, as Daily Show correspondent Jordan Klepper will soon lead his own 11:30 P.M. show, starting as early as this fall.

If nothing else, the events of 2016 have gone to show us just how wrong presumptions can be, whether potentially hilarious presidential bids, or century-long baseball curses. Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver learned both the hard way, recalling past Daily Show clips in which he’d made catastrophically bad taunts in hindsight.

The cancellation of Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show remains a sudden shock days after the fact, even as Wilmore gears up for his final show on Thursday. He certainly won’t be alone, as fellow Comedy Central departure (and executive producer) Jon Stewart will put in an appearance to help send off his show’s former “Senior Black Correspondent.”

It’s difficult to say if Trevor Noah has found his particular Daily Show groove after ascending the throne from Jon Stewart in September, but where Noah hasn’t generally shied away from challenging guests, at least one punch has been pulled. Following controversial announcements of a Chris Brown interview, The Daily Show appears to have quietly canceled the appearance.

Now that Stephen Colbert’s Late Show continues humming along through its third week, eyes turn to Trevor Noah and the September 28 premiere of our new Daily Show on Comedy Central. First up after Jon Stewart’s departure, Noah has set comedian Kevin Hart, GOP hopeful Chris Christie, and musician Ryan Adams among his first guests of the new tenure.

Comedy Central took a bit of a breather after Jon Stewart’s final Daily Show to let Stephen Colbert soak up some spotlight at CBS, but with Trevor Noah’s September 28 premiere fast arriving, it’s time to put asses in the chairs. Groove to some Kanye and lower your seat for our first look at The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.

As a matter of fact, he had several of them. Friends, foes, correspondents and a musical legend came together last night to pay tribute and say farewell to a man who has shaped the way people looked at news, politics and the world as a whole...

Now that President Obama has come and gone, Jon Stewart’s final round of Daily Show outings will bring out a few more big guns to help send him off. Among the sure to be extensive list, we already have top comedians (and near successors) Amy Schumer, Louis C.K. and even Denis Leary booking slots on Jon Stewart’s final run.

Harrison Ford might be a superhero. This, according to Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams, who was on set for Ford’s unfortunate accident last year, when a hydraulic door broke his leg. (As Abrams’ describes it in the clip above, his ankle was at a, gulp, 90-degree angle to the rest of his body. Ew.) Thankfully, Ford was okay. Then he later got into a plane crash and was mostly okay after that too. Because, again, Harrison Ford is a superhero.

We are going to miss Jon Stewart.
