Every March, Oklahomans are encouraged to become 'Heroes' simply by giving to the American Red Cross. And all local dollars stay right here in the Lawton-Ft. Sill community.

Carrie Norton, American Red Cross Regional Manager of Disaster Response for the Central and Western Region of Oklahoma, visited the K-LAW 101 Morning Crew Friday to let us know that the theme for this year's 'Heroes' campaign is "Fire Hurts, Red Cross Helps" - a theme designed to celebrate the Red Cross' strong relationship with fire departments across Oklahoma and the incredible work that Red Cross volunteers do for home fire victims.

Jocelyn Wood from Fort Sill Federal Credit Union dropped by as well to tell us that a kickoff rally for the 'Heroes' campaign will be Thursday at 10AM at their south branch, 5202 SW Lee Blvd. Then, from 11AM to 1PM, Nancy Mace will broadcast live on My 107.3 from Atlanta Bread Company at Sheridan & Gore. During that time, a portion of Atlanta Bread Company's sales will go to the American Red Cross.

How can you give? Go online at redcross.org, text REDCROSS to 90999 for a $10 gift donation, or call the American Red Cross Great Plains Office at 580-355-2480. Be a hero - donate to the American Red Cross anytime in March during their 'Heroes' campaign. No amount is too big or too small. Every dollar counts, and every dollar stays right here.
