James Meeks

HELLO PEOPLE OF THE WORLD! My name is James Meeks and I was born in the state of Mississippi. However I didn't stay there very long because my father was in the military. In fact couple years after I was born we moved to Texas. In fact my childhood years was spent mainly in the U.S and Europe. I lived in Europe for six years during my father's time in the Army. I used to be somewhat knowledgeable in German, but since I haven't spoken it or have heard it spoken in over 10 years I have pretty much forgotten all of it. Because I moved around so much there were only a few things that stayed constant in my life. My parents, music, writing and video games. (You'll hear me talk about video games quite a bit when you hear me on Sundays!) Lawton is the longest I have stayed in any one place and I am proud to call it home. My dad retired here and I spent my middle school and high school years here. I am Cameron Graduate and I hold a Bachelors In Communications with an emphasis in Journalism. I also hold a Communication Minor with an emphasis in Radio/Televison

Schools Participate in Food Drive to Feed Hungry Oklahoma Residents

From the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma:
 
(Lawton, Okla.) – Oct. 6, 2014 – Through the annual Students Against Hunger Food Drive, schools in central and western Oklahoma are collecting food and fund donations through Nov. 7th to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and its partner agencies.  To date, nearly 160 schools are fighting hunger by participating in this food and fund drive.  In Lawton, MacArthur High School, St. Mary's Catholic School, Ridgecrest, Edison Elementary and Flower Mound Public School schools are participating in the drive, which benefits Lawton Food Bank.

CU Theatre Department To Open Season With ‘Leading Ladies’

From Cameron University's Office of Public Affairs:

Cameron University’s Department of Theatre Arts kicks off its season from October 2 to 5 with “Leading Ladies,” which will serve as Cameron’s entry in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Cameron University Theatre. Tickets are $12 each; $10 for senior citizens and active-duty military. CU students are admitted free. Tickets can be reserved in advance by calling 581-2478.
