Cameron University’s Country Jazz Fusion To Feature Lawton-Area Musicians

The Cameron University Department of Music will present David Anderson and Friends as the headliners for the 2011 Country-Jazz Fusion tonight (Nov. 3). The concert will also feature the Cameron University Jazz Combo, the Cameron Centennial Singers and the Cameron University/Lawton Community Jazz Ensemble.Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. in the Cameron University Theatre. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students/senior citizens/military. Cameron University students, faculty and staff are admitted free with proper identification.

Anderson is a Cameron alum and has been a staple of the Lawton/Fort Sill music community for more than 25 years. He has performed with the Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra in addition to providing musical accompaniment at numerous events throughout southwest Oklahoma. He will be joined by area musicians Chris Bayne on guitar, Ralph Spears on guitar and bass, Ken Collins on steel guitar, Stuart Robertson on fiddle and Jeff Ayers on drums.

The concert will feature a variety of popular country and jazz favorites, including Chris Bayne’s “Corn on the Cob”; “Breezin’” written by Bobby Womack and recorded by George Benson; “He Stopped Lovin’ Her Today,” the Grammy-winning hit by George Jones that was written by Bobby Braddock and Curly Putman; Floyd Cramer’s “Last Date”; “Am I Blue”, written by David Chamberlain and made popular by George Strait; “All of Me” by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons; and Ervin Rouse’s classic “Orange Blossom Special.”
