Today's catch of the day comes from a Texas Red Dirt country artist, whose most recent album became his first to hit the top of the Billboard Country Albums chart. And it only took him 16 years and 13 tries.

Aaron Watson was born and raised in Amarillo, Tx., where didn't learn to play guitar until after playing college baseball in new Mexico. He played bars and honky-tonks around the Lone-Star State, before releasing his debut album, A Texas Cafe in 2001.

Watson has always considered himself an "underdog" and working hard is nothing new. Watson performs hundreds of shows every year, and has collaborated with the likes of Willie Nelson, Dale Watson, Jack Ingram and Bill Joe Shaver. After 15 years of touring, sweating and cutting albums and singles for his own label, Sonnet Records, Watson's 2014 single "That Look", a song he wrote for his wife Kimberly, started getting noticed by the main stream country community. The single debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard Country Digital Sales Chart, and closed out the year as the most successful selling independent country single of 2014. The song was also his 10th #1 single on the Texas Country Music Chart.

Then in February of 2015, Watson's 13th album, The Underdog, debuted in the top-10 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. The album would climb to #1, selling 26,300 copies, more than any other first-week album in 2015 until the Zac Brown Band sold 214,000 copies of Jekyll + Hyde the week of May 16 and Luke Bryan's final Spring Break album Checkin' Out, which sold 88,000 copies the week of March 28th.

Watson is in our spotlight today with the second single from The Underdog. Aaron Watson and "That Look", today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
