Today's Catch of the Day spotlight falls on a duo comprised of one of, if not the best songwriters in modern country music and a up-and coming singer/songwriter, who's resume includes songs written for major label artists and being the first unsigned artist to ever appear on late night TV.

Amanda Watkins was drawn to music at an early age, her career has gone from singing in church to standing on the hallowed stage before a packed house in Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Amanda has always delivered powerful performances with her strong voice and gifted melodies and lyrics. Watkins states that the proudest moment of her young career was when she becoming the first unsigned artist to ever play network late night TV, when her former group Miss Willie Brown appeared on Jimmy Kimmel LiveI in 2011. Watkins then went on to co-write the song "Cheat On You" with John Rich, from Big & Rich's most recent album,Gravity.

Amanda has been privileged to open for major artists like Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley and Frankie Ballard, and to perform at major music festivals, as well as earning the distinction by American Songwriter magazine as delivering one of the top 5 best performances at Bonnaroo. One of those opening performances led to her working with her partner in crime on today's featured song, Jamey Johnson.

Its Jamey Johnson's second trip into the COD spotlight in 10 days, and its simple..the man just keeps making good music! Johnson is an artist that is very serious about making good music, participating only in projects with artistic merit, with commericialty a secondary concern. Known originally as a writer, (George Strait "Give It Away", Trace Adkins "Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk") Johnson solidified his reputation by writing back year-end #1 songs, "Give It Away" in 2007 and his own single "In Color" in 2008. He also penned the number 2 single in 2008, James Otto's "I Just Got Started Loving You". 2008 launched Johnson's unique style and sound onto the country music world.

Amanda has just finished recording a new album in Nashville’s historic RCA Studio, which will be released later this year. From that project comes the lead single, a duet featuring Jamey Johnson, co-written by her with Rivers Rutherford. The single is in our spotlight today, Amanda Watkins & Jamey Johnson with  "If I Was Over You" is the Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
