Today's Catch of the Day comes from an artist, who before he hit it big in Nashville worked as a personal trainer. Explains why he is considered one of the fittest acts in country music. This led to one of his clients passing on an audition tape to RCA records, and eventually a record deal.

Born in Savannah, GA and raised in near-by Rincon, Billy Currington work not only his own tail off making his way into country music, but other peoples tails too. While his first shot at success fell short as after a long process, RCA records passed on the personal trainer. Currington began to write for other artists, having success with songs recorded by George Strait, Tracy Byrd and Marty Raybon. Based on the success he had as a writer, Mercury Records signed Currington in 2003.

Currington established himself as a strong dual threat in Nashville as a singer and songwriter when his debut single "Walk A Little Straighter" peaked at #8. Billy wrote the song about his relationship with his step father. The song featured a chorus that Currington wrote when he was only 12. The relationship with his step father haunted him into adulthood, leading to an incident which led to Currington receiving 5 years probation and anger management classes for a dispute with a tour boat operator in September of 2013.
