Today we focus on a singer and songwriter from Hokes Bluff, Alabama, who started writing songs at age 14.

In his short musical career, Drake White has found himself linked to both MCA Nashville Records and Big Machine Records' subsidiary Dot Records. Signed by MCA in 2013, White and his band The Big Fire have opened for some of the top names in Country music, including Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Little Big Town and the Zac Brown Band, as well Southern Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Its all a big change for a guy that graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Building Science. White was working as a general contractor in Nashville when MCA signed him to a limited contract in 2013. He released his first single "Simple Life" through the label the same year, peaking at #36 on the Country chart, but MCA Nashville went through a "reshuffling" at the time and decided not to proceed with an album.

In 2014, White signed with the Big Machine Records owned label Dot Records. His first single for the label, "It Feels Good" was released in February of 2015 and peaked at #33. On the strength of two top-40 singles, Dot decided to take a chance on White and proceeded with his debut EP, also titled It Feels Good, which was released in September. The second single from the project is in our spotlight today. Drake White and "Livin' The Dream" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
