Today's featured artist is a second generation country musician who came to Nashville in 2013 from a small town in northeast Louisiana.

Dylan Scott was born and raised in Bastrop, Louisiana, the son of a Nashville guitar player who played for Freddy Fender and Freddy Hart among others. From his father, Dylan learned a deep, profound for music in general, and country music in particular. He also learned a deep love and respect for the outdoors, lessons that gave young Dylan direction and purpose in his life.

Scott knew from early in life what his future held. While his friends looked forward to college, joining the military or just trying to figure our what road to take, Dylan knew early on his future was in Nashville. He worked hard on his guitar playing and singing, honing his skills on guitar and piano, strengthening his vocal talents while also working on his songwriting skills.

While in high school, Dylan performed on the Louisiana Hayride, while also performing at festivals, fairs and churches. At the age of 17, he found himself in a Nashville recording studio, cutting 4 songs with songwriter Charlie Craig. One of the songs Scott recorded, "Between An Old Memory And Me" was written by Craig and recorded by a hero of Scott's, Keith Whitley. Dylan's version of the song caught the attention of Curb Records, who signed the 17 year old to a contract in 2013.

Scott's first two singles, "Makin' This Boy Go Crazy" and "Mmm, Mmm, Mmm" were critically well received, but neither charted. Both songs were featured on his self-titled debut EP, released in 2014. Two more subsequent singles, 2014's "Lay It On Me" and 2015's "Thinking Out Loud" also failed to chart. When not on the road touring or at home writing new material, Dylan is currently in the studio working on his first full-length album.

The next single, expected to be part of that project is in our spotlight today. Dylan Scott and "Crazy Over Me" is our Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to do it again.
