Today's catch of the day is our second straight from an artist born and raised in South Carolina. But this singer/songwriter's path did not take him through rock music first, but instead lead him first to the college football grid iron and the onto become a well respected, record breaking songwriter, where he co-wrote the first song to ever debut in the #1 spot on the country chart.

Lee Brice was born and raised in Sumter, S.C., born into a musical family, which included his brother Lewis, who was a contestant on season 1 of the CMT competion show Can You Duet? Lee began playing guitar and piano as well as singing in church, writing his own songs and entering winning three different talent contests in high school. Lee would go on to Clemson University where he was the long snapper on the football team, before an arm injury ended his grid iron career.

Brice's songwriting career began in 2007, with songs being recorded by Jason Aldean and Cowboy Crush. The same year, Garth Brooks released "More Than A Memory", a song that Lee co-wrote with Billy Montana and Kyle Jacobs. The song became the first single to ever debut in the #1 position on the Billboard Country Charts. The song led to Brice being signed by Curb Records, which released his debut single "She Ain't Right" later in the year. It was the first of three singles from a project called Picture of Me, which was never released by Curb.

Lee's first top-10 single, "Love Like Crazy" was the title track to his 2009 debut album. When the song hit the top-10 in July of 2010, it broke the record for the longest climb into the top-10 in history. Released in August of 2009, "Love Like Crazy"'s 46 week climb become the all time record. When the song remained on the chart through September, the song broke Eddy Arnold's record for most week's spent on the chart. Brice's 56 weeks on the chart broke the record set by Arnold's 1948 single "Bouquet of Roses", which enjoyed a 54 week chart life.
