Troy Gentry and Eddie Montgomery met when they worked in the band Early Tymz (which later became Young Country) with Eddie's brother, John Michael Montgomery. Even though Gentry went on to win the Jim Beam National Vocalist competition in 1994, and despite touring with Patty Loveless and Tracy Byrd, he found himself unable to secure a solo recording deal, re-uniting with Eddie to form Deuce, changing the name to Montgomery Gentry when they signed with Columbia Records is 1999. The pair soon released their first album, Tattoos and Scars, winning the ACM Favorite New Artist, ACM Top New Vocal Duo or Group, and CMA Vocal Duo of the Year awards in 2000.

After Columbia Records released a second Greatest Hits album, Hits & More: Life Beside a Gravel Road, Montgomery Gentry left their recording home in 2011 and signed with Average Joes Entertainment, a record label owned by Colt Ford. Their first release for Average Joes, Rebels On The Run, produced the top 10 hit "Where I Come From."

After touring to support the album, Montgomery Gentry returned to the studio to begin work on a follow up album in 2013. This as yet unnamed project, slated for release in March gives us today's Catch. The lead-off single, "Folks Like Us" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you will be hearing again.
