Today's focus is on an artist who was born and raised in Baytown, TX, and who first came to our attention as a contestant on The Voice. Coached by Blake Shelton, she made it to the quarterfinals of the program's second season in 2012.

Rachael Lynn Woodard was so sure of her future in country music that she graduated from high school at age 16. She was encouraged to audition for The Voice by a friend and co-writer who had been on the program on season one of the program. After being saved by Shelton and then the next week by the public vote, RaeLynn was eliminated by Shelton in week 4.

After leaving the program, she signed a contract with Republic Records Nashville, and has continued to be mentored by Shelton. In late 2012 she released her first single, "Boyfriend", returning to The Voice to perform the song on the Season 3 semifinal results show. The song, the lead sing from her debut EP Me climbed to #32 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. The EP's second single, "God Made Girls" was released in 2014 and climbed to #7 on the chart, her only solo top-10 hit to date (she appeared with Shelton and Pistol Annies on the #1 hit "Boys Round Here"). The single was certified gold by the RIAA in January of 2015.

RaeLynn has used her success to give back to music education. Last March, RaeLynn partnered with the National Association for Music Education and Give a Note Foundation to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Music in Our Schools Month. To support the foundation’s mission and encourage music students nationwide, RaeLynn penned “Always Sing,” a song expected on her next album and is currently available on iTunes. She has also done work the Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to help get food to families throughout the state.

RaeLynn has returned to the studio to work on her first full-length album, reported to be released later this year. In her spare time she is also touring with Shelton as his opening act. We have the second single from the project in our spotlight today. RaeLyn and "Love Triangle" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
