Today we turn our focus to the latest from a second generation musician, and an artist who's last five singles have hit the top of the country music chart. In the process, this artist has shown off some pretty impressive acting chops, in videos that have become epic "mini-movies".

Randy Houser grew up around country music, the son of a local, Lake Mississippi musician. Houser took after his father from a young age, fronting his own band by age 10. By the time he graduated high school and entered East Center Community College in Decatur, MS, Houser was playing regularly with his band, 10 lb. Bisquit.

In 2002, Houser was tiring of the music scene in and around his home town and decided to go "all-in" and moved to Nashville to begin a song writing career. His first success was a song he co-wrote with Jamey Johnson and Dallas Davidson, that was recorded by Trace Adkins. Not only did "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" top the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 2005, but it also become a top-20 hit on both the Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts. It received gold certification for sales, digital sales and ringtone sales, signifying more than 500,000 sales of each. It became the first song in history to complete this trifecta.

Houser signed with Universal South Records in 2008. While writing songs for his debut album, Anything Goes, Randy continued writing for other artists as well, including Justin Moore's debut single "Back That Thing Up", and again teamed with Jamey Johnson, along with Jessie James for James' single "My Cowboy". Houser released two singles from the debut album, the title track and "Boots On" with the latter becoming his first top-10 hit, peaking at #2. His second album, They Call Me Cadillac featured two singles that failed to break the top-30; after two more singles that failed to not only crack the top-50, Houser left Universal and signed with Broken Bow Records and their Stoney Creek division.

Right out of the box, Randy found success with his first single for Stoney Creek, "How Country Feels" became his first #1 single, serving as the title track for his first Stoney Creek album. The album produced 3 more #1 singles, "Runnin' Out Of Moonlight", "Goodnight Kiss" and "Like A Cowboy", becaming his first gold certified album.

Houser released his fourth album last week, an album that has already produced his firth straight chart-topping single, "We Went"; the second single from that album, Fired Up, is in our spotlight today. Randy Houser and "Song Number 7" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
