Today's spotlight falls on an Oklahoman, who was once given the choice between staying in school and playing the bass guitar. He chose the bass, moved to Tulsa and has never looked back.

Ronnie Dunn first came to Nashville as a solo artist, charting with a pair of singles in 1983 with "It's Written All Over Your Face" and again in 1984 with "She Put The Sad In All His Songs". By 1990, his options were beginning to run dry when an executive at his record company suggested he try teaming with another singer/songwriter who was struggling as well. He was introduced to Kix Brooks and the best selling duo in the history of country music, Brooks & Dunn was born.

Brooks & Dunn have sold over 30 million records worldwide, and have charted 20 number one singles on the Billboard country chart. In 2009 the pair would disband at the end of their Last Rodeo tour and begin work on solo albums.

Ronnie Dunn released his self-titled debut solo album in 2011. The first single, "Bleed Red" debuted at #30 on the Billboard chart on January 29th, 2011, entering the top 10 in February, Dunn's first as a solo artist. The song would peak at #10.

The second single "Cost of Living" was released June 6th, with the album dropping the next day. The album debuted at #1, but the single would stall at #19. A third single, "Let the Cowboy Rock" received little response and peaked at #31. In June of 2012, Ronnie took to social media to ask his fans what they thought the albums fourth single should be. Dunn's record company, Sony, in return blamed the singles lack of success on the facebook post. Soon after, Dunn requested radio stations begin playing "Once" as the fourth single, but before it could be released as a single, he was dropped by Sony.

Dunn signed with a new label, Nash Icons in 2014. The fledgling label also featured as their flagship artist, Dunn's good friend Reba McEntire, along with Martina McBride. Dunn is currently splitting his time between working on his first album for Nash Icon and his appearances in Las Vegas with his old partner Kix Brooks along with Reba. The first single from the project is our focus today. Today's Catch of the Day is Ronnie Dunn and "Ain't No Trucks In Texas", new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
