Hawaii Remains the Nation’s Happiest State, But What’s the Unhappiest One?
Just like it did last year, Hawaii snagged the top spot in Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, which ranks the happiness level of each state.
The index bases happiness on a combination of six factors: emotional health, physical health, healthy lifestyle, job satisfaction, access to health care and safe places to exercise, and, finally, life evaluation — which includes a self-evaluation about your present life situation and your anticipated life situation in five years.
About 177,000 Americans 18 and older took the survey, which was administered between January and June of this year. North Dakota and Alaska took second and third, respectively, while West Virginia rated the unhappiest state. Check out where your state landed below.
Charles Dyer Captured In Houston
After a nationwide manhunt, the FBI has captured Oklahoma fugitive Charles Dyer who was wanted for sexually assaulting a child and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. After a few weeks on the run Houston NBC affiliate KPRC is reporting 31 year old Charles Dyer was captured Thursday morning near a Fort Bend County elementary school.
Rare East Coast Earthquake Damages National Cathedral, Washington Monument [VIDEO]
The 5.8-magnitude earthquake that unnerved millions of people on the East Coast of the United States on Tuesday forced schools in three states to close and damaged several buildings and federal landmarks.
At least four aftershocks followed the powerful quake, including a 3.4-magnitude tremblor that hit near the nation’s capital overnight.
East Coast Rocked by Earthquake, Pentagon Evacuated
An earthquake epicentered in Virginia occurred Tuesday afternoon, with people in Washington, DC, New York, Ohio, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Toronto reporting they felt the tremors, as well.
Reports thus far indicate the quake registered a 5.9 on the Richter scale, and the USGS says it’s the most powerful quake to hit Virginia since 1897.
Sugarland Addresses Indiana Stage Collapse in Moving Open Letter
