Lawton Pro Musica presents “My Country” highlighting beautiful and patriotic songs of love and devotion on Thursday, June 12 at 7 p.m. in the New City Hall Auditorium 212 SW 9th St. This concert is free to the public. No tickets are required.
Come and let the singers of Lawton Pro Musica stir your heart with such pieces as “Going Home” from Antonin Dvorak’s New World Symphony, “Anthem” from the hit musical Chess, and Jay Rouse’s arrangement of “Give me your tired, your poor” based on the Emma Lazarus poem on the Statue of Liberty.
This 14 member choir will also present the hauntingly beautiful “Hymn to America” by Audrey Snyder. Using the music from the Charles H.H. Parry anthem “Jerusalem,” Snyder honors those who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks as well as paying tribute to the survivors, the families and all who helped with the recovery efforts.
As in all LPM concerts, the audience will get a chance to sing along with some old patriotic favorites!
