Five Best Places For A Date in Lawton

We took an informal poll and asked you "Where is the best place in our area to go on a first date?" Although these are great places for a first date, they are also great places for ANY date.

Coming in At # 1 - medicine park

There are a lot of things to do and see in historical Medicine Park. From it's historical cobblestone shops to several great restaurant's, a local tavern, several lodges and a whinery. It also has some very scenic walking trails. Medicine Park is beautiful during the day and especially at night, when they turn the lights on down by Medicine Creek, very romantic!

If your date likes to be wined and dined or if they are the outdoorsy type. Medicine Park is the perfect place for a first date!

Medicine Park has several festivals you'll want to watch for; The Mayor's Blues Ball, a Blue Grass Festival, A Red Dirt Festival and Christmas parade just to name a few.

Coming in at #2 - lake elmer thomas recreation area (letra)

Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area (LETRA) is Fort Sill’s premier recreation destination! A great date place and a great place to take the family! If you're date loves the water. This is the place to take them. It is in very close proximity to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, Medicine Park, and Fort Sill. LETRA is located at the base of Mt. Scott on a 360 acre, no wake lake with year round camping availability and summer season recreation activities. Although LETRA is located on Fort Sill it is open to the public. (Just remember to bring a picture ID.)

There is lots to do at LETRA including boating, swimming, a water slide, paddle boats, miniature golf, and lake side cabins for rent. A full fun day or weekend!

They even have a banquet facility in case you need it for some future event, let's say a reception of some type? (hint hint).

At #3 - mount scott @ sunset

We don't think there is anything more romantic then a sunset drive up to the top of Mount Scott. Do you?

Mount Scott is located in the scenic Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge (which also makes for a very nice drive ). It is probably the most well known peak in Oklahoma next to the high point Black Mesa. Yes, Oklahoma has mountains and we are very lucky to have this area in Oklahoma so close to us.

Can you think of a better way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon? Start out with a drive through the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and then end the drive at the top of Mount Scott. After the sun sets, head on down to Medicine Park or to our #4 location - Meers!

#4 - Historic meers store

Meers Store has braggin' rights in this neck of the woods. Home of the "Best Burger in Oklahoma", this restaurant used to be a bustling town of miners seeking gold in the Wichita Mountains. The restaurant is all that is left.

Not only do they have the best burger in Oklahoma, you can also get some great steaks, barbecue, home-baked bread and my personal favorite, the banana pudding! But get there early because it goes fast! The burgers are the size of a dinner plate and the steaks are brought to you table side and you decide how thick you want them cut. Voted one of the Top American Restaurants from the Food Network and Travelocity's Local Secrets.
