‘Young and Crazy’ may be the most biographical single from Frankie Ballard’s ‘Sunshine & Whiskey’ album. The singer admits his wilder years have slowed him down, even if he was living life at full speed.

The wisdom that 30 brings usually comes on the back of the good-timing 20s. It’s a familiar statement for a country artist, and fan. “How am I ever gonna get to be old and wise / If I ain't ever young and crazy,” he sings during the chorus of this guitar-fueled country-rocker.

‘Young & Crazy’ is also Ballard’s first chance to show his guitar chops. The riff that opens the song hangs around in different variations throughout the three-minute-long rebellious anthem. He’s a great player, and it’s fun to hear him show off.

Now I might have to kiss, no tellin' how many lips / Before I ever really figure out what love is / Go through some heartbreaks, wake up with headaches / Don't learn nothin' til you make a lot of mistakes,” Ballard sings during the second verse of the song, penned by Rhett Akins, Ashley Gorley and Shane McAnally.

“Yeah I might stay out all night / I gotta do a little wrong so I know what's right.”

‘Young & Crazy’ is more aggressive than his two previous chart-toppers. Sonically it’s more true to his roots, as well. His vocal performance is convincing -- one gets a sense that when he’s pushing 80, he’ll be quite the sage.

Why Fans Will Love It: 'Young & Crazy' is relatable, fun and funny without being corny.

Key Lyrics: "How am I ever gonna get to be old and wise / If I ain't ever young and crazy"
