The courtroom nearly turned into a boxing ring after a testy exchange between a judge and a defense attorney.

John Murphy, a judge in Florida’s Brevard County, got into a physical altercation with public defender Andrew Weinstock after they got into a heated exchange in court Monday.

Murphy reportedly punched Weinstock after he allegedly tried to get Weinstock to convince his client to give up his right to a speedy trial:

Murphy: You know, if I had a rock I would throw it at you right now. Stop pissing me off. Just sit down."
Weinstock: You know I'm the public defender. I have a right to be here and I have a right to stand and represent my client.”

Then, things took a turn for the even more bizarre when they both retreated to a hallway – where there are no cameras. That’s reportedly where Murphy threw hos punch. While no one could see the fight, you can hear various sounds that may be from the altercation.

The people who remained in the courtroom clapped when the fight appeared to end.

While the incident will be reported, no charges are expected to be filed.
