Miranda Lambert Thanked for Being a Friend of Tourists
Miranda Lambert is often recognized for being the talented country singer that she is. But it’s not every day she gets thanked for being a “Friend of Tourism” to Oklahoma.
On Wednesday (Oct. 16), Lambert and Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb were both honored for benefiting the town’s tourism industry at the annual Chicksaw County Marketing Association meeting.
Kim Little, Executive Director of the Association, said they chose Lambert for this award because of “her commitment to the industry and the draw that she’s brought to the area.”
The ‘Mama’s Broken Heart’ singer owns The Pink Pistol, a clothing store in Tishomingo, Okla. It draws a lot of attention from her out-of-state fans, since they can’t shop online.
“The philosophy at The Pink Pistol is that she wants people to drive to Tishomingo, which means if they drive they have to go through a lot of other communities to get there,” Little explained. “They can shop in her store, but they’re not allowed to order anything online so that just drives a lot of people out to the region.”
Lambert isn’t the only one offering a hand to the Sooner state. Her husband, native son Blake Shelton, is doing his part.
He is also helping his home state with a large contribution to aid their wildlife.
Miranda and Blake really do put their money with their mouths are, giving back to their local community by encouraging commerce and donating their own funds.
