Before you start adding too many toys to your holiday-shopping list this year, perhaps you should consider a couple of reports released earlier this week scrupulously pinpointing the most dangerous toys of 2012.

The latest “Trouble in Toyland” report by the U.S. Public Interest Research Group indicates that the Fisher Price-made 'Dora the Explorer' guitar is far too loud, while dozens of other popular toys present definite choking hazards. “We should be able to trust that the toys we buy are safe,” said Nasima Hossain, public health advocate for U.S. PIRG. "However, until that’s the case, parents need to watch out for common hazards when shopping for toys."

Another report from the advocacy group WATCH also warns parents about the potential harm that can come to a child from certain toys. In its annual “10 Worst Toys” list, the group reveals toys that can cause potential hazards, such as strangulation, choking, eye injuries, impact injuries and puncture wounds.
