Ever since this happened, I couldn't wait to tell you all about it. Have you ever had something happen to you that literally takes 10 minutes to sink in? Well, that's what happened to me yesterday while I was eating lunch at a restaurant by myself (we'll talk about that in another blog).

My heart broke as I saw two ladies; an obviously loving daughter with her mom, who appeared to be in her 60s. The mom was battling cancer. The despicable chemo had taken its toll on her frail body, and she had a red bandana with white stitching to cover up her bald head. They sat down, and we sat there separately and ate our meals.

Now, this was the kind of place where you can go back for seconds, so I think you know what I did -- I put my old plates aside (yes, I said plates), went and got a refill of tea and brought it back to the table. When I got back with more food, the daughter was at my table, putting all of their leftover, unwanted food there. I thought, 'That's okay -- they don't know I'm still here eating.' So I sat down -- and she continued!

It was so awkward that I finally broke the silence by saying, "Are you through with that?" Ha! Unfortunately, she didn't find the humor in that, and neither did her mom. They looked at me like I was being so disrespectful. I left it at that and chalked it up to them having a lot on their plate, so to speak. I felt sorry for them, but still . . . I was shocked!

What should I have done? Have you ever had a weird encounter like that? Tell me about it in the comments section!
