When will the severe weather start?

Severe weather will start creeping into Oklahoma Tuesday evening. Southwest Oklahoma could see hail up to the size of golf balls and winds from 60 to 80 miles per hour. The tornado potential for Tuesday is low.

Wednesday, April 24

Severe weather risk for Wednesday, April 24 is marginal but will be more widespread across southwest and central Oklahoma. According to the National Weather Service in Norman, Wednesday's weather could come in two rounds.

The first round may begin at sunrise Wednesday and last to lunch time. The second round may begin around 9 p.m. and stretch through the overnight into sunrise Thursday. Storms Wednesday could bring hail up to quarter size and winds up to 60 miles per hour. The tornado potential for Wednesday is very low.

Severe storms will start ramping up in the Texas panhandle Thursday, April 25 before entering Oklahoma. Storms may arrive in the Sooner State late Thursday afternoon and will spread east into Oklahoma and north Texas overnight. The main threats Thursday will be large hail and damaging winds, plus a potential for isolated tornadoes.
