The Oklahoma Youth Expo (OYE) is set to begin March 9th in Oklahoma City.  The OYE is the world's largest junior livestock show.  Since 1915 Oklahoma youth and their families have been making this event a tradition in their lives;this event is not only the World’s Largest Junior Livestock Show but an event which highlights the world’s best and brightest young people.

David and I try to make OYE each year to watch these young adults show their pigs, lambs, goats and cattle.  We, of course, are especially fond of the club calves and really enjoy watching the steers and trying to pick out who we think will end of up with the Grand Champion Steer and Reserve Grand Champion.

On January 19th, at the Denver Stock Show Baylor Bonham from Newcastle, OK, had the Grand Champion Steer and sold him for a record $106,000!

Then, last weekend we were watching the sale from the Forth Worth Stock Show and enjoyed watching the Grand Steer sell for a record $230,000!  YES!  $230,000!  Cautro Schauer from Beeville, TX will be attending Texas A&M and I think his winnings will give him a good start on tuition.

Good luck to all the Oklahoma Youth that will be participating in this year's OYE!  We'll see you at the sale! Of course we won't be bidding but hope you get just as much as these two young men!
