Peyton Manning to Miss Entire 2011 Season?
The news seems to get worse each day for the Indianapolis Colts.
Hours after a 23-20 loss to Pittsburgh dropped them to 0-3 for the first time since 1998, Colts owner Jim Irsay said Monday that star quarterback Peyton Manning, sidelined with a neck injury, will likely miss the entire 2011 season, WISH in Indianapolis reports.
Irsay later took to Twitter to clarify his morning announcement saying that Manning could still return in December, writing, “I didn’t say Peyton out 4season FOR SURE, keeping him on ActiveRoster n taking it month by month/Outside chance of return n December possible.”
The Colts are running out of answers for the quarterback position. Kerry Collins, the veteran who was brought out of retirement to spell Manning, left Sunday night’s game with the Steelers after sustaining several big hits. Backup Curtis Painter lost a fumble returned for a touchdown by Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu, but did lead the Colts on a game-tying drive in the fourth quarter.
