When I was on the radio in Stillwater, Oklahoma from 1999-2004 , I had the opportunity to meet and hangout with many red dirt artists who where just getting there start in the music business. For example, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland and The Stragglers, The Great Divide and Stoney LaRue.

I will never forget the first time I was introduced to LaRue. Some friends and I had went to Mexico Joe's in Stillwater to dinner and we ran into the owner Stan Clark. After our meal was over Clark said they had a really good singer/song writer named Stoney LaRue that was playing acoustically  on the patio at 9:30 so my friends and I decided to stick around an hangout on the patio and listen.

You could tell from the first song LaRue played that he was going to make it in the music business and two short years later Stoney LaRue and the Organic Boogie Band released the album "Downtown" which was recorded at the Legendary Cain Ballroom in Tulsa, and the rest as they say is history. Now LaRue plays all over the United States to packed out crowds.

LaRue was last in Lawton back in July when he opened for Merle Haggard and Miranda Lambert at Fort Sill, and will make his way back to Lawton this Saturday and he will play at C.W Scooters. Tickets are $ 15 in advance and can me purchased at Crutchers, Western Discount Warehouse and at Scooters and will be $18 the night of the show at the door, This is a show you don't want to miss.

Tomorrow we will be talking with LaRue! Bookmark this post for more updates!
