Rolling Stone has announced their pick of the five best country albums of 2012, and the list leans traditional. New projects by Kellie Pickler, Jamey Johnson and Texas country band JB and the Moonshine Band made the cut, which was revealed on the magazine's website on Friday (Dec. 7).

Texas country stars JB and the Moonshine Band are itching to begin the Taste of Country Christmas Tour this week. The first show of the run -- a stop in Abilene, Texas -- is scheduled for Thursday (Nov. 15). Lead singer JB Patterson tells Taste of Country Nights radio host Jeremy Robinson that he's especially looking forward to playing dates with Casey James, who's also on the bill.

In three short years JB Patterson, the frontman for JB and the Moonshine Band, went from a career in advertising to playing shows across the country, including the Taste of Country Christmas Tour. Had he auditioned for some reality television show or landed one of his songs on a major movie soundtrack, this rapid ascent would make sense. But Patterson found his bandmates from a classified ad in early 2009. In an interview with Taste of Country he admits he was naive with a capital, boldfaced -- underlined "N."
