The fastest man alive is one step closer to getting a writer and director for the big screen.

Warner Bros. is reportedly in talks with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith to write and direct the film adaptation of The Flash, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This will be the feature directorial debut for the author, who is also known for his action-horror novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and for directing episodes of MTV’s The Hard Times of RJ Berger. Grahame-Smith is currently writing Beetlejuice 2 and the LEGO Batman movie, and is also producing the film adaptation of PC and mobile game Five Night’s at Freddy’s.

Grahame-Smith’s hiring has already drawn criticism from those noting that another middle-aged white male with no feature directing experience has been hired for a major superhero film, while female and minority candidates continue to be overlooked.

The LEGO Movie writing-directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller were previously attached to the big screen version of The Flash (and wrote a treatment Grahame-Smith will work from) but the two are a bit busy developing the Han Solo prequel and their upcoming TV adaptation of Serial. Grahame-Smith’s version of the film will star Ezra Miller as the DC Comics superhero

The Flash will open in theaters on March 3, 2018.
